Our History

The Daily Grind Cafe began with a simple dream shared by two passionate coffee lovers, Eleanor Vance and Samuel Blackwood. In the summer of 2010, Eleanor and Samuel, both recent graduates with a shared love for quality coffee and a strong sense of community, decided to turn their passion into a reality. They envisioned a place where people could gather, connect, and enjoy exceptional coffee in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

With a modest loan from family and a lot of hard work, they secured a small, unassuming storefront at 45 Maple Avenue in the heart of Oakhaven. The space, though humble, possessed a certain charm and potential that resonated with their vision. They spent weeks renovating the space, painting the walls in warm, inviting tones, installing cozy seating, and carefully selecting vintage decor to create a unique and welcoming ambiance.

On October 15, 2010, The Daily Grind Cafe officially opened its doors. Eleanor, with her extensive knowledge of coffee beans and brewing techniques, took charge of crafting the perfect cup, while Samuel, with his natural knack for hospitality, ensured that every customer felt like a valued guest. The initial menu was simple, featuring a selection of classic espresso drinks, freshly brewed coffee, and a small assortment of pastries sourced from a local bakery.

Word of mouth quickly spread about the new cafe in town, and The Daily Grind soon became a popular gathering spot for locals. People were drawn to the cafe's friendly atmosphere, exceptional coffee, and the genuine connection that Eleanor and Samuel fostered with their customers. As the cafe's popularity grew, they expanded their menu to include a wider variety of specialty coffee drinks, homemade pastries, and light lunch options. They also began hosting live music performances on Friday nights, further solidifying their role as a community hub.

In 2015, The Daily Grind Cafe underwent a significant expansion, doubling its seating capacity and adding a dedicated space for roasting their own coffee beans. This allowed them to source beans directly from sustainable farms around the world and ensure the highest level of quality and freshness. The expansion also included the addition of a new kitchen, enabling them to offer a more extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items, all made with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Today, The Daily Grind Cafe is a thriving business with a loyal following. Eleanor and Samuel remain actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the cafe, ensuring that their original vision of creating a welcoming space for the community remains at the heart of everything they do.
